This player deserves 0 out of 10 for the simple reason that Plextor sued its own customers with DMCA.[1] Besides, it's overpriced for a burner that doesn't even support DVD-RAM, and Lite-on already has a 20x DVD burner in the production line anyway.

Unfortunately the only 100% solid drives I've every used from Plextor were SCSI models which worked flawlessly every single time.

The IDE based drives only worked decent when you could use buffering software. On new disks the writes were fine but on CD-RW the first write is the only good one. Subsequent writes get worse on each write, in my experience, making them unreliable for archiving but great for making party coasters.

Plextor used to be the top of the crop... I had a recent dvd model but it crapped out while in warrenty got a replacement and that one died after 4 months of use. I have heard of a lot of their newer products doing the same. It is a shame...tarnish to a once highly respected name.

why would anyone wanna buy a dvd burner when u can buy a second hard disk to store all your stuff. Hard disks are way more faster, reliable and have more storage.
