Comparing one board against another using different clock speeds is just stupid and biased

The 975 chipset is known to work better using Conroe, not Allendale that works far better using the 965 chipset due to high FSB

i've found this mobo is finiky with my e6600 compared to my e6400.
also some beta 1.4 bios out and about add a 1333fsb strap - helps some people

About "more memory less overclocking" issue, have you considered the fact that the 800 mhz rated 2 GB memory-kit was simply unable to keep the pace with a 500 mhz bus-speed ?? (that is if you used the same 1:1 cpu:ram setting as with the 1000 mhz rated kit ;))
