Are you guys retarded???
A CAD laptop and ZERO CAD benchmarks???
Then posting gaming benchmarks as if...

SHAME ON X-BIT!!! This is utterly pathetic.

"one of the first mobile workstations"? I don't think so. For my 3D I need a numeric keypad and while the size of the screen means there are ample margins on either side of the keyboard to accomodate one, Dell have not put one on the machine.

I would rather see the question answered whether or not the QuadroFX 2500M is equal to a GeForce Go 7900 GTX in non-professional applications (gaming that is).

what kind of a moron would buy a notebook if it costs twice as much as a desktop and performs half as good as a desktop.

What's wrong with it?

(1) Where's the pointer stick like in some Dell and all IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads? The pointer stick is awesome.

(2) Where's the benchmarks for workstation uses? How does it perform in Matlab? Fluent? Solidworks? Ansys? AutoCAD? Not even an ounce of Photoshop, etc!

(3) Keypad?

What? No trackpoint? That aside, the designers are idiots for not including keypad like HP/Compaq does. Even the cheapo MDG notebooks have keypads - on 15.4in screen models!

I do not see your attraction to the Asus notebook. At almost 3 grand it is way overpriced and under powered. It has low end graphics a slow hard drive and an old CPU. I would have thought a review that would better serve your readers would have been an Alienware m5790. Which not only is several hundred dollars less than the Asus but will walk all over it in performance. For that matter my 2 year old XPS Gen 2 will walk all over the Asus and it too was cheaper.

Interested in this M90. Opted for the M65 with T7400 and 2gig. I wish it had the video standard with the M90.

Great review! You've covered every detail. I've got an M90 on order, and I'm excited to put it to work primarily doing design work using SolidWorks. I looked at desktop workstations but decided the portability was a feature I couldn’t pass up. Performance is phenomenal.

M90 is my fourth Dell notebook. I had the advantage of this article to make my buying decision a comfortable one. I really wanted the XPS M1710 but saved 30% by choosing the M90. It has the same frame, components and similar performance found in the XPS without the colorful blinking led's.

By the way, Dell salesperson admitted the cost of the XPS is due primarily to glitz and color!!

I've owned this notebook for 1 year with the T7600 2.33Ghz, 2GB Ram, Quadro FX3500 & the 1920x1200 WUXGA Screen and its a shear powerhouse. Not very mobile at less than 1 hour use on battery but for my needs that wasn't applicable.

Highly reccomended and cheap now with the slightly updated M6300. Can catch mine on ebay (4/6/08) as i'm going to live in Ibiza for 2 months and then im going university. Sad see it go but need's must :)
