1. AMD does not have the manufacturing muscle of Intel and as result can not ramp the Barcelona. AMD will be lucky if they get any new product out by Q3 of 2008! Do not believe what Hector Ruiz is saying- AMD is having integration problems with ATI and is having difficulties extracting benefits from the deal. As an aside, Intel will have 45nm ramped by end of 2007 and a possible CSI implementation by Q3 of 2008. This means that Barcelona will be a non-issue for Intel for 2007-2009.

3. It would be nice if AMD still made 939 chips.........................!!!

4. They are brushing the year off ,not really taking it seriously. It smells of contingency planning,The news from AMD has been pretty apathetic starting from Q4 ;I wonder if its a backlash for all the bad press they have recieved.
I want to think they have come up with a different solution but it sounds just as likely that they are totally blowing 07 off. When I thought 07 might be a waste of time last year i didnt think I would be revisiting it in a serious light; i actually thought they would put the jump on everything. Maybe they dont see am2+ as bieng a good seller this year ,But I think it will be.If they release the desktop variant of K whatever it is likely to sell well. Another point I have asserted since last june is that 08 was the target year because of the gearing to ddr3,They just keep proving my guesses were really close to home. 5. "use the new code-named K8L micro-architecture "
Eh? K8L is the code name for the Turion 64 that's been out for years. [Posted by: kalniel | Date: 02/26/07]
No, the K8L means low-power K8, for mobile applications. The "K8L" code-name is wrongly attached to the new core. According to AMD sources, the real name is K10. (K9 being the 65nm K8.)

Zim yes K8L was internally used this way inside AMD.. wich not many people even knew about (outside AMD) until just recently.. the more commonly widespread use for the K8L is the Stars series of code names Barcelona, Agena etc..

6. It is sad. AMD delayed the launch of the new graphics core and now this. AMD does not want to take the risk now to push their K8L processors. I and many others will be happy if they delay the server launch to provide only desktop versions. If AMD only provides desktop versions this year, they can use the information that they gathered this year and put it to good use for server and notebook versions. If I was AMD, I would take the risk providing only desktop versions this year instead of taking the risk of being bought out.

The new core WILL come Q3 server/desktop. Only it won't completely kick off the actual one by day one, but progressively. That's the "big news". (Note that Intel did the same, and doing it even now, with the Core2. They are even slower completing the transition.)

7. I really wish they would release the K8L core for desktop Q3/Q4 this year since i plan to get a new com by then... well i'm not exactly a fanboy but i do support amd (personal reasons) and i'd like a new pc with an amd processor too.

8. Well from yesterday's AMD media event on Barcelona, I'd say Intel is once agin in deep shit and can't buy their way out - just as when AMD launched Opteron.
Anandtech has a pretty good technical review that dispells all the B.S. Intel is spewing in an effort to discredit AMD's chips. For once some in the media have finally realized Intel is and has been tlaking shit and that AMD is the one telling the truth and delivering the best technology. That however won't stop the intel shills from claiming otherwise. [Posted by: Bornfree | Date: 03/01/07]

Turion64 uses K8 not the K8L.
