1. Why not use 8.38 Driver??
[Posted by: Niels | Date: 05/15/07]
[quote]There's nothing sinister going on, ATI gave us 8.37 to test with and told us to use it. We got 8.38 today and are currently testing it for a follow-up.

Take care,

2. "cooling system that produces rather loud nice is something that should definitely be corrected on commercial Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics cards."

'nice' should probably be 'noise'

3. Not a very conclusive...conclusion...

4. The chart on page 11 has the memory bandwith of the 2600 and 2400 backwards.

5. please benchmark SpecViewPref 9.03 when you do all the benchmarks and specific if used Vista or XP.
http://www.spec.org/gpc/downloadindex.html

Some of us do 3D work as a Hobby or currently a student and usually can not afford those killer prices of FireGL and Quadro cards. When DailyTech posted the SpecViewPref scores beating the QuadroFX5600 i can only dream for this to be real but no one hardware review site has ran this benchmark so please be the first.

Thanks

Hello Chris

I am glad to inform you that the SpecViewPref 9.03 benchmark results are going to be revealed in the upcoming article covering games and semi synthetic performance.

Thank you for your interest and suggestion.

Yaroslav:

Thanks for the future SpecVew score. BTW is there a reason you guys do not benchmark Age of Empires 3 anymore, i found it strange that the last benchmark you did the game the X1950XTX almost receive the same FPS as the 8800GTX. I was hoping for some fellow up on this but you guys never did another AOE3 benchmark.

Thanks again,
Chris

You see Chris, according to sales figures "Age of Empires 3" games are no longer considered a potential buy or a bestseller.

As much as we personally like this game, we can't actually expand our benchmark list forever. Some of the games come, others go, depending on popularity of the test with our readers.

7. AMD/ATI releases this absolute flop of a gpu. I currently own an 8800GTS and wanted to upgrade to an R600 as soon as would comer out because i thought it would blow the 8800 series out of the water! How dissappointing this card is!It has trouble keeping up with a gpu that is almost 6 months old now, it draws more power and definitly is a step back in pice/performance per watt.ATI and AMD really dont deserve any credit for their GPUs and CPUs lately. what if nvidia gets out an 65nm 8900GTx or something with more shaders still and higher clocks? AMD-ATI is doomed and brought their doom omly to themselves!

R600 isnt that bad
8.37.4 drivers suck
just look some benchmarks run with 8.37.2
a hell of a difference
the drivers are still too immature, thats a bad thing..
when drivers will shape up, you will see that the R600 will perform a lot better
[Posted by: Niels | Date: 05/16/07]
Niels.

The 8.37.4.2 drivers you've pointed out are fake..they improve FPS at the expense of image quality..basically they give the R600 an easy time by lowering the image quality of the game and thus "improving" FPS in a big way....ATI has already repleaced these set of dirvers (due to cunsumer complains of poor image quality) with new ones called 8.37.4.3 and these prvide the original in game quality setting and in this real enviorment the FPS are much lower then that of an 8800GTX/Ultra and even 8800GTS...My point is that R600 is a total LOOSER no matter how you call it!!

you should blamed ati for not releasing earlier so that the price of your beloved 8800 could come down.

8. Nice. Thanks.
What about gaming perfomance then? When will those tests appear?

And what is known about phisic and GP computing?

What can you say about audio-implemation?

10. r 600 sucks man .....poor very poor....
[Posted by: ionuk | Date: 05/23/07]
With much higher geometry performance and the command procesor the r600 could be nice in profesional CAD aplication's. And we dont know the real world performance in DX10 with the new geometry shaders. With the high internal bandwith u can push more geometry on the screen and the tmu-s will be enough. Higher detail could be archieved without the + texturing with shaders i think. I think it has decent performance in today heawy texture games for its price with much better hd video playback than 8800.
