One hint, dont lei about your testbed and methods

You guys didn't use the 7.5 catalyst, just took the benchmark results from the previous review and put them here.
Shame on you guys.
How people noticed?
Stalker has about 100% improvement with 7.5

Liars.....

With this sort of cost I can get 2* 8800GTS SLI with higher performance

is it me, or the 2900xt seems to be gaining performance as they improve the drivers?

Okok... I'm not buying any of this crazy expensive cards, but won't it be funny to see over time how the radeon drivers improve? hahaha... maybe the 2900xt will bet appeling after some months, who knows? hahaha

Why are most of you so obsessed with 2900XT? This is Ultra's review.

FOOLS. CAN'T YOU SEE? 2900XT HAS GREAT POTENTIAL. IT WILL BE A FASTER CARD IN FUTURE GAMES.

I REMEMBER WHEN REVIEWERS WOULD SAY X1900XT AND 7900GTX OFFER THE SAME PERFORMANCE BUT NOW THE ATI CARD IS WAY FASTER WHEN RUNNING NEWER GAMES LIKE Battlefield 2142, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander.

As you can see X2900xt is gaining from 8800gts standard to 8800gtx...so it is worth buying for high end budget card , compare with 8800 ultra

How about running Company of Heroes in Direct3D 10 mode next time?

Those Stalker numbers are certainly odd for the HD 2900XT. EB's recent review shows one doing 43FPS in STALKER with dynamic lighting active @ 1600x.

What is this? ATI fanboys slugfest?

Nothing hurts like broken egos.

Your ignorant comments put more people off the 2900XT than the chip's weaknesses.

I can't believe GPU's costs $800 these days. Somebody revolt. We are going to the wrong direction.

So the 7.4 and 7.5 drivers put up the same numbers in all tested games at all resolutions down to fractions? I don't often see that testing the same card with the same driver in the same game multiple times.

Open their review of the HD 2900XT using the 7.4 driver in a window with the Ultra Extreme and compare.

For the record. this "fan boy" has owned an overclocked 8800GTX (652|2054) since Nov of last year. Yes, I manually OC and did not buy an overclocked card.

If you want a GTX buy a stock card and OC it yourself.

Nice review!

nVIDIA really gave us everything with their 8xxx line. Awsome Arc.

Fantastic Performance & heavenly IQ and most importantly Performance per Wat advantage over ATi's offering. Seems like nV improves in this department it with every new generation but ATi keeps getting worse and worse in P/W department.Shame :(

I think its time for me to replace my X1900 CrossFire system (wich FYI I enjoyed a lot and preferred them over my 7900GTX SLi) and go the single powerful VGA route. OCed 8800 ultra that is.

Until I get my hands on a Dell 30 incher. Overclocked Ultra seems powerful enough.

Oh damn I forgot to mention this. I think you guys at X-bit forgot to mention the kind of Adaptive AA wich was used on ATi cards. Was it performance or quality mode?

ummm and also I think Super sampling transparency should have been used with nV cards unless of course your "un-mentioned" Adaptive AA mode was set to "Performance."

Some people may argue that you dont really need to bench 8 series on HQ mode against HD2900 and that the default quality is enough.

Overall, thanks for revieing the XXX version.

XFX Geforce 8800 Ultra Extreme is a waste of money.
