In my opinion the next war of the microprocessors world is for the consumition

Is clearly that the Penryun of intel will be capable to escale to 3,33Ghz in dual core and is probably that in quad core too

But the new core of AMD, Barcelona is more efficient per cicle than the actual offer of intel (Conroe) and his TDP is lower

In this case is clear that the Barcelona and in consecuence all the Phenom lineup in more efficient per cicle and per wat and more important like this, the real war actually is in the dual core market and the problems of production that AMD would have with the quad are irrelevant

AMD will launch a dual core Phenom at speed of 2,6 Ghz this year and this processor is able to equal the X6800 with a low TDP

In this case in next year intel will launch Penryn and AMD Phenoms at higher clocks, more at the middle of the year with the 45nm process will be ready

For this the price will reduce and with this will win everybody

Good for AMD

I want CPUs that can be cooled passively! :)

I’m surprised Intel hasn’t responded yet to AMDs decision to market their CPUs for the low power crowd. I suppose they don’t think it’s worth the effort at this point. They could certainly market their products more aggressively in this way if they wanted to. Intel can’t even be bothered to label the low end C2Ds with a TDP lower than 65W which is a long way from what they require.

I'm an AMD enthusiast and currently using Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939. After reading this article, I'm surprised with AMD's thermal design and plan to upgrade mycurrent system once Phenom X2 45w TDP is introduced. But, the only problem for me is the processor price. I wish AMD could offer us
