1. Yeah... as if they'd still be around at that date.

If they still are would they have the R&D funds and the freedom to be as innovative as in the K8 days?

of course they will still be around then for christ's sake... by then Barcelona will have crushed intels will, and there stocks will be worth more than a bag of pucks........

And what If Microsoft decides to Delay or Has problems... Will the Technology be sucked down too?

4. AMD needs to be around to keep Intel in check. Also because they come out with some damn good stuff although not recently.

As for Barcelona crushing Intel I really doubt that, however, with AMD prices for great dual cores under$100 they wont be leaving anytime soon.

5. AMD cannot keep Intel in check...
They have not been able to do so for the last 40 years WITH all the help from the entire industry and Intel itself.
