At least we get a taste of Phenom before the end of the year. 1 Phenom FX, 2 Phenom x4, and 1 Phenom X2 is great. I hope they will deliver because I look forward to building my PC soon!!! GO AMD!

Phenom X4
RD790 Chipset
R600 Refresh... cant wait....

Finally they admit into something.

Intel is just waiting on the sidelines. By the time AMD gets this out of it's doors, a barrage of chips (45nm) will be launched by Intel which will definitely steal the Phenom launch thunder (that is if there is one)!

Ah well ill probably upgrade the 6000+ AM2 chip with a Phenom X4 in 2008. If there is a dualcore that is a fair ammount faster sooner ill consider it.

AMD needs to keep intel in "constant" worry". This IS the ONLY way progression happens. GET IT? Are you even able to say, Competition?
In town: One lawyer or Two...
Whether you like it or not... We need AMD! We most certainly need AMD to continue to push the envelope!
Otherwise: intel would STILL be in the 486 arena....
As the OLD story goes... Stupid, stupid people.....

intel: We only know what to do when AMD moves to a new level.

AMD: Let the world live in harmony and hopefully we can make a small portion of our competitors income.

intel: What? We need to find out what they're upto and copy them!!

AMD: Let us look to the future.

intel: Did you hear something? What does future mean?

AMD: Hey. Our technical staff decided that Quad-core is the way. That is sound advice. Lets do it.

intel: Staff! "Why do we not have a direction". WAIT! Our technical staff (configured in the thousands) found out, through covert Surveillancel, AMD is embarking on a new way to look at "what is good for the masses". "This is our NEW direction". "Throw all of our extensive resources into diabolically thwarting efforts from such a small company as AMD". (BTW: there are so many un-informed comsumers in the world. The stupid consumer will NOT know the difference. They ONlY see intel).

AMD: Let us build the BEST product for the hard-earned dollar our customers work for...
intel: Can you believe those fools at AMD? Don't they know, WE are the best and have the most resources, and WILL squash them?

intel: "Give us a break! Our sales are flatlulating! Lets FIRE thousands; only to shake up the pot".
AMD: Lets give our Technical Staff a raise.
intel: You Bastard Staff! Why isn't AMD out of business yet so we can take ownership of the TRULY important matters at hand: making lots, and lots of money with our mundane products. YOUR FIRED. Hire "out-of-college" engineers, THIS WILL INSURE OUR FUTURE!!

...and so the story goes...

Un-intiated people breed mundane ideas.....

Intel is selling great products! Faster, more efficient, intellecual.
Are you crazy?

I have AMD am2 6000 w/: win64 and kubuntu64 in dual-boot.
I have built at least 100 systems for business and countless system for personal use. Both Intel and AMD (which depends upon customer choice or my input). I prefer Intel.
PRICE/performance ratio (from customers point of view): Find AMD as THE choice overall. Due to less: 'Blue screen of death", higher throughput for everyday activities, better gaming experience, less issues from over-heating (of which I have found to be one of Intel-type CPU issues), AMD driven computers stay up and running for months without reboot (I believe this is a result of better cooling capabilities-from my point-of-view), is a result of better cooling formula, and FROM a gamers perspective: better over-clocking abilities ( I base this on motherboard capabilities). ALTHOUGH I prefer Intel CPUs (BTW: I have both Intel and AMD running all the time) in my lab, I've had to re-boot the Intel machine more often than the AMD machine.
All this info being posted, based on experience: I have begun to look at the alternative to Intel... My findings are not just about less power cunsumption (althoug this is very important to me), it is about useability! It is more about capabilities! It is about Staying ONINE and, up and running for LONG periods of time (without having to Re-boot!). I have found CPUs from AMD have, and do make asformentioned possible!
My Intel system needs a re-boot several times a day. This is due to intensive Word-processing, Internet (copy-paste) functions, while Excel is up, while"Sametime" is running, while 'Outlook' is running, while performing: upgrades, and internet grade 'Leraning courses', while running IE7.
My AMD system runs all the above applications without any re-boots and for months. Oh, this pisses me off! I like Intel! but their CPU cannot cut the mustard.

My current systems:
Intel Core Dual 2 Duo E6600 with 1GB ram (I paid $900 at time of purchase)
AMD AM2 6000x2 with !GB ram (I paid $859 at time of purchase)

Finally, I know which CPU works for me....
BTW: I know: RAM, Motherboard (with video on-board) means. Remember, these are basic systems of which most would buy.

Do not buy that which will give you head-ache.

Buy the system that works: for me! Pick AMD for your next CPU choice.
