If they would have invested in a solid 65nm shrink they could have gotten at least a 15% speed up on 90nm... a 3.6-3.8 dual core K-8 would be possible. it wouldn't win Core 2 - but at least it could have boasted ASP quite a bit.

AMD should have gone quad K8 and solid 65nm transition and bring K10+ only at 45nm mid 2008.

instead they focused on pulling in a big new design early on the expanse of maintaining competition... and failed pulling it in and getting in it up to speed (as to be expected).
