Yeah, AMD has at least another year of being Intel's b1tch.

After the Pentium D debacle, it's nice that we now have 2 companies fighting for our $$$.

Wait for REAL benchies, wait or buy now arrrrrrrrrgh

I'm finding it nearly impossible NOT to buy the q6600 G0 as most seem to do at least 3.60GHz @ relatively low Vcore

They are only twice as fast in a few SSE4 optimized programs. In real world use they are only ~10% faster, however a 30+% increase in Half Life 2 is nice. Penryn is a nice incremental improvement and will probably match AMD's Phenom X4's clock for clock so the release timing is perfect for Intel.

I've seen the benchmarks overall this chip is 5% faster then the current Core 2 chips clock for clock. The example that they are quoting as 115% faster is for a multimedia encoder compiled exclusively to use SSE4. We've seen this behavior before with SSE3.

*sung to the tune of "its the end of the world as we know it"

Its the end of DAAMIT as we know it, its the end of AMD and we know it, its the end of ATI and we all feel fine.

This is where I actually support AMD fanboys now. They need to keep AMD running. And ATI too.
