Well where is everybody? ---

An addendum to my last post:

Is there anyway of taming that horrid bluish/purpleish gray to a less imposing normal run of the mill gray?? It simply draws too much unmerited attention to itself.

This is a great site -- glad I discovered it...

also - is there any way of toning the purplish blussh gray this monitor generates in lieu of a natural, unprepossessing gray?

Interesting comment from a BEST Buy buyer re: 226WTQ:

Pros: Vivid colors, brightness, and phenominal gaming experience
Cons: Weird color shift depending on vertical viewing angle.

"I am disappointed in this monitor. It was my #1 choice, based on its specs and other user reviews. It lives up to its numbers, but it has a weird color shift depending on the vertical viewing angle.
Even when I display my screen straight on, it has a slight pink-ish hue at the top third of the screen. This causes the grays to look strange for normal Windows use. If I look down at a slight angle, flesh tones turn purple. I have not seen any other monitor that has a color shift like this. Even mediocre monitors just get darker when viwed off-axis.
I will be returning this to get the Samsung 2232BW."

Why don't you test HP Pavilion monitors like w2207h and the rest of the family? they're selling quite well and reveiving great scores in many reviews. These roundups are poor if you don't consider the market leaders!

You are way off the base on this review. The only difference is not the color gamut. The most significant difference between the 226bw and the 226cw is that the 226cw panels are actually manufactured by Samsung themselves whereas in the 226BW its a matter of your luck. You could end up with any 1 of the panels manufactured by 3 different manufacturers, 1 being Samsung included.
