You can see that Processor is becoming capable of much larger amount of control per string & that basic level is increased in cache by 3 with greater flexibility, yet many instruction sets are fundumentally still fist to last & single data thread at core, so it sets up same operations much faster & deeper & can expand to much larger data cue with added instructions seems like adjustment of GEARS for VISTA ULTIMATE as well as modulating 4 cores.
This gives good feeling to what photos of both penryn & barcelona have shown, major reworking of insides to much more complex field of gate manipulation, therefore ability to capture & manipulate data signal is more throughly & accurately done as more is done in each string while having super long string new inst set too.thomasxstewart.

hmm thay are server chips any way (anandtechs review is more of an Preview then an review as its useing Reged ram and managed to get an 8800gtx card towork in it) but its still an good review

It's been a long wait for this quad. Meanwhile, intel's forging ahead. We'll see How much AMD is falling behind intel or being competive again.

I see that AMD is using a compiler from Portland Group which is optimized for K10, and I assume Intel compilers favor Core2. Since there are so many differences between K10 and Core2 and it is so easy to cook the books to favor one over the other when benchmarking, how is it possible to get numbers that are objective?
