That's good news since I would really like my 1950GT to have good reliable performance under Linux. I just hope the community produces good drivers and I hope the documentation is done well. It's nice to know I could potentially fix problems myself, though due to my lack of time recently I'd really rather not have to :D.

This is nice for ATI users because in the past installing the software is a pain from what I read. The open-source community has provided more reliable and stable software for the 7000 series than what ATI has ever provided even for Windows. Unfortunately, Linux projects gets a big push from Google's Summer Camp, so ATI users may have to wait a year to a year in a half until a mature version comes out.

Linux projects that support All-in-Wonder or VIVOO cards needs some help, so AMD should also provide documentation on these cards.
