The new generation of FireGL cards will beat these new quadros pretty badly.

"Unfortunately, we cannot yet compare the Quadro family with the new professional graphics cards from AMD, but we hope that their promising professional products will arrive in our lab shortly.!"

I'm hardly waiting :) btw. great review.

I just like too see this kind of testing submited too a "normal" and affordable graphics card like 2600 XT, 8600GTS, 2900 XT, 8800GTS...

I am waiting to see the pro level 2xxx series of chips. From what I have seen of the lower end, it's easily comparable, and in a lot of cases faster. I haven't seen anything on the ultra or high end (r600 based) but, one things these chips do not lack in is computational power. The first thing that struck me, when most saw disappointing game scores with the card, is the sheer power in pro Apps. I think this is where an r600 chip (if your gonna make just one for multiple sectors) starts to make sense. Tesla sure isn't faster then the AMD solution, and I don't think their pro cards will be either.

I bet it'll be a twofer, as AMD and Nvidia compete on 3 fronts, not just gaming cards. If they win high end professional, (gain market share) and slow market acceptance of Tesla, then I am sure they are ok with ceding fastest single (perhaps multiple) card GAMING solution.

Time'll tell :)

I have a quick question. Why did you guys test Service Pack 1 for XP-64 if Service Pack 2 has been available all year?

You could have included a normal 8800 card in the tests. It might make these thousand dollar video cards look very expensive for what you get in return (a slightly different driver).

What if I would like the best of both worlds? I am a design engineer working with AutoCad and Inventer ao daily bases and Run X-plane flight simulation quite regularly at night. What card works good for both?

Thank you yet again X-Bit for a wonderful article!

I must admit however that I feel cheated by your ommision of the 2D benchmarks. Please don't forget about us the editors!

AVID would benefit from these babies and I would LOVE to see how they perform. It would also be very interesting to see their performance in comparison to the popular 8-series and the new GT with more streams!

PLEASE! :)

yeah, basically the PSX445 with the NVIDIA Geforce extension, HQJQ223 and BLOK232222 are the best in this case. Does anybody agree? :)
