Nintendo weren't selling another far cheaper console as well though. Sony are still selling huge amounts of PS2s and the fact that they are still supporting the PS2 means that uptake of the PS3 is bound to be slowed. At the end of the day Sony are still selling more home consoles every month in the US than Microsoft are.

nintendo gamecube sold more units that the 15 million you mention.
nintendo almost sell the same amount of gamecubes that xbox microsoft sold.
clearly you dont know the facts.
just lies and misleading... shame

The PS2 sales today are meaningless. They are about $130 and 90% of the games are under $10. Yeah thats a bargain! but also, most people are buying their 2nd or 3rd one now cause their first either broke or cause they just want the slim. The PS2 is probably not making much profit for Sony as most their software sales are now bargain bin used games.

PS3 is way overpriced, and there is very few games on it I, or my friends care to play.
If GTA IV was out, and ONLY available for the PS3, this would certainly be a differnt story..... Instead it will be coming out for X360 and PS3.


PS3 is doomed, unless they get the killer app games, or dramatically lower the price.

The fact is that games sell the system.

I don't own either one, but seeing from the software lineup the 360 is winning by a land slide.

Now if the PS3 had a lot more games, and some cheaper solutions I would give it to them.

I am really interested in where the PS3 goes because on paper it has some pretty awesome hardware.

I have a 360, and even speinding $400 was a stretch (and I'm 31 yrs. old.) No way am I shellin gout $600 for a console with 1 controller, no games, and poor software availability even after a year. Sony's name is starting to go down the tubes after the whole lithium-ion batter issues, late and pricey PS3, and now no games for it. I owned and enjoyed my $300 PS2 and would have done it again, but only because it has such a strong software following. Sort of like buying a Betamax with no movies to watch, defeats the purpose.

Ha ha, that shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. The GameCube had superior graphics to the PS2 and only slightly less better than the Xbox. Ever played Resident Evil 4?

Yeah the sad thing is no one is surprised ^_^. If Sony Started Selling the 40GB PS3 for $399 things mighnt (though I wouldn't hold my breath) change. Of course I don't think they can afford to take that big of a loss on it especially with a weak US dollar.

The PS3 needs killer apps and I'm sorry but Metal Gear Solid Geriatric Snake isn't going to cut it for me even at $399 for the PS3. It's funny but the big seller for Sony right now seems to be Guitar Hero ON THE PS2!!! The PS3 is having alot of the same problems the Sega Saturn had, but worse. The Saturn actually had alot of games I wanted to play, and the PS3 has, uh....., yeah I can't think of anything ^_^.
