They are right. The average home / business user doesn't need anything more than a 1ghz CPU. For a light OS 1GB of ram is fine which leaves the only real catch being the small disk space.

The rumored 10" version will give them a lot more market share.

Those who claim that Eee PC will need Vista for certain are nowhere close to understanding Eee's current market success. None of the Eee is pre-sold with XP at the moment.

There is some genius within the PC hardware market after all;

Finally there is a light in the end of the tunnel for my relatives that do not understand why with my beloved custom PCs have to be so complex (huahuahuahuhau);

It's a great market you found ASUS! Keep up!
And don't forget Brazil.

All we need now is for MS to scrap the POS vista and extend XP or release a heavily cut down version of vista - without all the CRAP and BLOATWARE rubbish

Re Linux why even bother with windoz, Linux is far more user friendly/powerful/secure

The ASUS eee already IS popular with Linux on it. It's selling out as fast as they make them with Linux on it. It's back ordered sometimes 1 to 2 months with Linux on it!

For Asus to include any thing from micosh*t is a seriously retrograde step. The wonderful thing about the eee pc is that it is introducing linux and other open source projects to the general public.
