if you had gotten this review done rapidly, it would have been very helpful, however the HD 3000 series is upon us. I know you can't just trash a review 1/2 of the way through doing it, but still...

We can read a router review 4 months after its release.
We can read a LCD review 12 months after its release.
But we simply DON'T read a review about a End of Life product :D
I hope we won't see the 3870/8800GT roundup when R700 and G100 hit the streets :D

The Radeon 3870, which is already out, has a MSRP of $219, and offers the performance of a 2900XT, along with a slew of addition benefits including: 55nm, lower powerconsumption, DX 10.1 support, and the latest UVD engine for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray playback.

Priced at $249 MSRP, the 2900PRO is a complete failure, and nobody in their right minds should be purchasing this garbage. For $10, you can even get the NVIDIA 8800 GT 512MB, which is probably 40-60% faster than the 2900 PRO.

ya the HD3870 Card pretty much erases the point of this product. And infact replaced the XT card aswell. Offers the same performance for less money and less heat.

Its obvious this article was written awhile ago. I think instead of posting it you should have just throw a the 3870 card in there and point out the reason not to buy this card in the conclusion!

Why is this review so late , ATI don't even make the 2900pro no more as it was a limited edition card.

what's even worse...

"It fulfils this purpose even better than the sophisticated Radeon HD 2600 X2 with all its potential problems. Well, we’ll obtain one of those unique dual-chip graphics cards in near future and perform a comparative test."

great.

What is the purpose of this review? I noticed Xbit is going down lately, so to speak, in terms of it's reviews usefulness...

9.
Yeah I rated this article as poor, I recommend everyone else follows suit...

ATTENTION MORONS AT XBIT LABS---- You are like 1 month late on this review! THE 3850 AND 3870 CARDS HAVE BEEN RELEASED, THEY ARE BETTER, AND CHEAPER!!!!

The 2900pro was sold out like in the first week it launched, due to it's extremely limited quantities, but who cares as the 38xx cards are far better yet even cheaper.

I love this site, but seriously, WTF is up with this ultra late, and now totally irrelevant review???!!!!
"FILLS THE GAP NICELY"!??? LOL!!!! Only a total jackass would recommend the 2900 pro over a 3870 HD!!!!

It's like now doing a review of the 8800 GTS 320mb card, and saying it is a great buy at $300, after the 8800GT has been released for $250!!!

If you boys are going to run a hardware site, it is your job to keep up with technology trends and advancements! Now spare yourselves the embarrassment and delete this article entirely! Then get a 38XX review out ASAP!

Does anyone here care about ANY of the cards in the review ??
[Posted by: Jag  | Date: 11/26/07 11:33:13 PM]

11.
Wow, yet another useless review of a previous generation of cards.
Xbit guys, do you even follow the releases of new hardware?

12.
i have to agree with all the ppl complaining:
- review is too late for such product, ALSO drivers are not the latest
- other newer, cheaper, better cards are out in the market already
- nothing is mentioned in the conclusion about the HD 3870xt & 8800GT availability and performance, which i consider is very misleading for ppl who don't read much about hardware.

in conclusion:
Xbitlabs hasn't been so great lately with video cards, and this review just made it ... worse.

This card is inferior to 8800 GT in terms of
1. Performance (most cases),
2. Power consumption
3. Noise
4. Availability
And even price.
Shall i remind driver quality ?
This article (and this card) is outdated.

First of all it is great review for ATI2900Pro well review, balance and no bias but if this review came out last month!!!!
Come on I love the way all of you make a review such simple, easy to understand and straight forward but please be up to date I really miss when Xbitlabs make reviews for X1800XT,X1950XT and much more...
Overall your review for this card are good but late..I'm supporting your website Ok...

When is X-Bit Labs going to review the new Radeon HD3000 series? Looking forward to that one. Peace!

The review was excellent, as X-bit's reviews usually are. Please don't rate it "poor" just because it's dealing with old cards. I'm sure they'll get some 38xx and 8800GT cards soon, if they already haven't.

18.
No you guys, it has to be rated as poor.

As DeMagH said, it is very misleading to say how good a buy this card is at $250+ when you have far superior 38xx for less money!!!!!!!

IF xbit labs had said in the conclusion,,,,, "oh yeah, by the way, the 3850 and 3870 cards from ATI are out, and smoke the 2900PRO in price to performance ratio, and the 2900 pro is not available anymore. Please keep in mind this review is totally irrelevant now, so basically we have wasted your and our time by putting this up now!"

All this review will do, is encourage uneducated peoples to buy inferior cards like the 2900HD or PRO! BAD BAD BAD XBIT LABS!!!! Go to your room! >=(

was this article ment to come out past month? are you serious about this:" And still, with all these minor problems, the ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro is perhaps the best graphics card in the $249 price category" ?!
[Posted by: darco  | Date: 11/27/07 03:52:34 PM]

20.
"not capable of working at 742MHz" - mine 2900 Pro can run @ 840 even in Crysis (and close to 900 completing 3DMark06). I think any 2900 Pro can easily run at least of 800, let alone 742.
