With specs like that, why not start from windows 2000? I'm sure that they could adapt it much more quickly than XP

I've modified Windows XP to make it work on embedded systems with much lower capability than the OLPC (half as much of everything). I'm not quite sure why they're making a fuss of having 40 engineers working on it full-time and still not being able to finish it for another 6 months, because it's not that difficult, and Windows runs fine on such a system.

Why even try to do it ?
It is more then obvious that Linux is better choice in terms of performance and cost.
