Advanced Micro Devices said that the value it paid for graphics and multimedia chip designer ATI Technologies last year was too high and the actual revenues the company gets and will be able to obtain from its graphics and multimedia businesses are below expectations.

HAHA!! they really are very brilliant!! they just realized this after more than a year?!?

You could have invested that into more fabs, morons!!

Uli was a better buy.

Much much Cheaper.
Would be doing chipsets for Opterons that could be paired with the Nvidia ones.
And also cheap desktop mobos.

The weak point no IGP. But they could use very low end Nvidia or Ati GPUs 6200 + turbo memory or Ati X1300 with Hypermemory.
Those would be high end IGP but good enough to pay the extra charge they would cost.

However they could never make fusion...

Hi, we are AMD, we were fooled into paying more for something than it was worth. It has taken a year to work this out, even though every two bit journalist commented this before we bought it.

Therefore, our poor preformance isn't our fault and we are a good bet to invest your money.

Just some wise ass high rank management people making up excuses for their incompetence. They should have foresee this I mean AMD is in the tech business themselves why can't they see that ATI was in the decline during the period that AMD bought them. I mean the report doesn't even mention how badly their latest generation CPU has been overwhelmed by Intel.

It's just some PR trick to try appease the shareholder, especially those shareholder who is more likely clueless about technology in the first place.
