Well, that's exactly what it is, the first pictures of it I have seen were showing the keys displaying different weapons from Quake 4 (which you would select by pressing the corresponding keys). It looks very cool, but it's more of a proof of concept thing than anything else. If they slashed the price fivefold, I believe it would sell (there already are $200 keyboards so $300 wouldn't be an outrage), but I guess that manufacturing and r&d costs surpass that amount. I suppose that it's too early for this sort of thing. But one day it won't be, and ArtLebedev will have the patent. ;)
On a side note, ArtLebedev's online store is offering the keyboard at prices starting at $462 (371e) up to the mentioned $1564 (1256e), depending on the number of "active" (OLED screen) keys.
