61. excellent article

62. Does anyone else feel short-changed by the new chips. According to Moore's law the number of transistors should essentially double in this time frame. And it has. But those transistors also should bring an equivalent speed increase. Instead we get maybe a hardly noticeable 10%. Hardly enough to justify upgrading! Where are those 64 core chips? Sure looks like Intel needs a push if they are to get off their asses!

Moore's Law? Do u really understand what is Moore's Law???

Moore's Law just say the number of transistors is doubling approximately every two years.. It is never say the performance will be doubled!! Study first before saying such careless words.

Yes, all 45nm processor are 64-bit chips. Increase 10% is good enough since it's become faster and less power consumption + less heat!! The AMD's processor, not that fast but the heat is like hell!

Intel really do the job well.. Xbitlabs too! :)

63. Why the e8500 has less voltage than e8200 if the speed of the e8500 is 500mhz faster than 8200?

64. quick, easy to comprehend graphs between old and new cpus. Nice that you added the AMD 6400+ to see just how much better Core Arch is. Thanks, I'm buying one when they come out.

65. what for comparisons... how can you compare a x2 6400 to a E8500... these are total differnt generations....

66. Very good info. It’s what I needed to decide on a new CPU. Now all I have to do is find a MOBO to go with it. (SLI)

67. great, but I agree with your comment referrence AND.

68. 8400 is not benched ,WHY?
[Posted by: muzzle8419 | Date: 01/30/08]

69. I work for a company that gets all the "confidential" processors after they are done being used for development by Microsoft. I managed to get a couple of 8200's and this review helped me figure out the direction that I'm going to take those chips. Thanks for the well written review.

70. rigged report..
Power consumption is all wrong.

71. very nice processor i want one!!!!! i go sell my e6750 and buy this , tank you xbits

72. Great article, would have liked to see a quad-core (Q6600) comparison in the mix, but i suppose the software has to be optimised for the cores, doesn't it.

Excellent Review

74. i had my mind fixed to buy E 6750 but came across the next best thing E 8xxx series. will have to do all my home work again. why didn't intel think of this in the first place...

75. Good comparation!

76. When do the E8500s go on sale in the US? I see the E8400s, but no E8500s...

77. ONLY 1.5 !!! V for a 24/7 operating - 45nm Processor ??? OMG you must have gone mad... This one will kill the processor in no time.

78. The E8500 is really amazing. I own this one and tried on it several times. Easily to reach 3.8GHz with stock cooler + normal cpu voltage (without increase the Vcore) and it is solid stable. And with a little voltage increase, without any problem can reach over 4GHz!!

This is for real! Intel really moving forward with the amazing 45nm processor!! Thanks Xbitlabs for the review. Your article is one of the reason i choose this processor and i never regret it~ :)

79. AMD CPU has the memory controller built-in and INTEL doesn't ! - so the whole system consumption it's important! the comparation is not relevant btwn intel and amd

80. will the E8200 work on a XFX 680i ?!?

any idea

thanks
