1. We'll see if you can deliver AMD!
You're usually late in everything!! [Posted by: classic Fanboy | Date: 01/18/08]
...and 1 GHz CPU, and 3.2 GHz CPU, and IMC, and nx-bit, and some other stuff.

Read "Tha Big Book O' Hardware History" first, then comment :D

You probably don't understand the word USUALLY.... its like most of the time.... idiot!

Whoa, you really like bashing from behind the internet's cover! It was a joke, get over it. And I understand the "usually" term ;)

2. AMD releasing 45nm without really being able to do 65nm?
Cant see that coming. [Posted by: 1234 | Date: 01/19/08]
If by can't do 65 nm you mean they have shipped over a hundred thousand 65nm chips, then yes. That is exactly what they mean.

3. Most probably late Q4 2008, debugging both MCM and native quads seam to be a problem, especially with the 45n...
Intel is having issues too with the 45n quads; the transition to 45 implies a lot of teething problems... Prolly the Nehalems will be delayed a bit just as the 45n quads were; and I hate the fact that I want to buy an E8400 and I can't find one anywere... damn paper lauches... [Posted by: STB | Date: 01/19/08]
4. Supposedly, the 45nm delay from Intel is just an excuse to milk customers for 65nm parts. Clearing inventory and still making a fat profit.
I find it funny that their stock has dropped too. $7.66 since new years to $19 now. Oh well. If my country's economy collapses then I guess no more CPUs for me. [Posted by: cheeseman | Date: 01/19/08]
yhea, when teh necst great depression occurs, you will be stuck using your computer until the capacitors leak on the motherboard, and the processor dies of electromigration...

5. "AMD originally promised to start shipments of its 45nm processors in mid-2008..."
Really? [Posted by: JB | Date: 01/19/08]
6. this annoucement is BS!
They couldn't even get their 65nm process to produce a high yield, let alone transition to 45nm! [Posted by: anti-\ | Date: 01/19/08]
Actually, this may well be the break AMD needed in a long time. My BonBon predictions tell me that if AMD can release 45nm parts on time, they can ramp up clock speeds and provide competitive solutions. Think of this as ATI's transition from the crappy leaky 80nm to 55nm resulting in cheaper and cooler chips with higher yields and availability. 65nm hasn't been good to AMD. 7. Will the 45nm parts come with socket AM3? anyone know?
[Posted by: bknec | Date: 01/19/08]
They might release the first batch on AM2+. The bulk of them should be AM3.Am I right in thinking that AM2/+ chips don't work in AM3 but AM3 chips work in AM2/+ boards? [Posted by: cheeseman | Date: 01/20/08]
right not to think too much... or you might lose your brain completely!

8. No doubt AMD is a superior technology house. It's just "hectored" by its CEO.
Hope "Get well soon" for beloved AMD. [Posted by: Jack | Date: 01/20/08]
9. Fanboyism aside... Many people forget that Intel has had to go to a smaller nano chip to achieve equal performance to AMDs chips. So the hoopla about Intel being first to smaller 65 nano or 45 nano or whatever just shows that Intel's process is not as efficient as AMDs. Now with AMD moving to 45 nano, Intel will be forced to go to 32 nano to stay competitive. This ain't rocket science.
AMD has had some problems of late but so has Intel. It was very telling for Intel to start a false rumor that they weren't releasing certain chips as scheduled because "they had no competition" when in fact they had technical problems. Just goes to show Intel is unscrupulous as always. That's why I'd buy AMD products even if they were more expensive than Intel's. At least AMD is honest unlike the scumbags at Intel who have exploited consumers for the past 35 years. If it wasn't for AMD we'd all be using Pentium 90s that cost $1000 each. [Posted by: Jorge | Date: 01/20/08]
Fanboyish crap!!!AMD is has those ridiculous FX chips priced more than $1000... and what do they offer... just unlocked multipliers.... [Posted by: Bleep | Date: 01/20/08]
Actually you can buy, the BE5000 for just 100€ with unlocked multipliers, it’s Intel who charges you 1000$ and now is aiming for the 1500$.

A blind faith to a pathetic product like Phenoms... Intel production problem isn't as major as those of AMD... Its common business sense to delay better products if you got the top spot! If AMD was the top dog, they would also be making some sort of pathetic excuse... [Posted by: anti-"AMD Fanboy" | Date: 01/20/08]
10. Yeah, Intel Q6600 on 65 nm, a *totally* inferior quad core to ANY AMD quad core...yeah, right.
AMD has a "superior" unified die, SOI construction, and on-die server-type memory controller and loses practically every test to Intel, including media encoding and games. Intel at 65 nm has a dual-double-core, the old fashioned silicon, an "ancient" northbridge style system, yet also has 3.2 Ghz parts screaming by AMD at almost 1 Ghz faster than their top shipping bin. AMD and "superior" are ships passing in the night at this moment...may 2009 will be kinder to AMD. [Posted by: Mark1 | Date: 01/20/08]
11. What happened to that 0-Sram or Z-sram AMD planned to implement in their chips?
I remember reading about it back in 2006 [Posted by: Question | Date: 01/21/08]
12. Empty promises again from AMD!! AMD is all talk, They always throw dates out so people will wait and not by a better chip from Intel, and when that date comes they throw out a POS tolken chip to say we made our goal. Six months later they will start producing them. All the while you could have a much much faster chip for over a year (can you say delay tacktics). Well it wont work anymore; AMD is going find market saturated with far better chips then they will be able to role out with. We are tired of the BS AMD just be honest and you will find alot more people willing to stay and wait for your products..

13. I hope AMD can do really great things with 45nm processors.
