1. Hyphens are acceptable between numerical characters but are in the least uncommon if used between the alphabetical words describing numbers.
So "between 3-4 years" = OK. This reads "between three to four years" But "between three-four years" = not OK. This reads "between three four years" [Posted by: boner | Date: 01/24/08]
2. Lol boner. I never knew that, but it makes sense :)
About the article-- Yes I think hybrids are a wonderful compromise until flash gets cheaper, but even hybrids won't come cheap anytime soon, will they? I just got a 250GB HD for $65 bucks, but I would gladly pay $100 for a 250GB hybrid that has 16GB for the OS (C drive or something). But these things will probably cost much higher then that for quite some time I'd imagine (an only be offered as larger solutions like 16GB SSD, with 500GB HD) this ensures a high price for the lowest models. I am ready for sub $150 SSD or HYBRID drives, but I don't think the manufacturers are yet, and won't be for quite some time =,( [Posted by: gamebro | Date: 01/24/08]
3. Well of course Seagate is going to play down the importance of SSDs, as Seagate does not manufacture any and feels threatened by their emergance. Notice the article doesn't mention the heat and power draw of HDD versus SSD.
Sorry Seagate, but HDDs are untimately going the way of the floppy disk. As soon as we can buy 64GB SSDs for under $200 I don't think it will take long before they replace HDDs in notebooks. It might take a little longer in desktops, but I'm pretty sure it won't take 3-4 years. [Posted by: negative creep | Date: 01/25/08]
4. Imagine how a 250GB SSD would cost?
Perhaps it would take next decade that SSD will land at a mainstream price... my guess! [Posted by: PinPin | Date: 01/25/08]
5. Flash price has come down 40% year over year for the last 10 years. Seagate should get on the ball, just in case they have it wrong.
