Who the heck needs that super expensive and super power hungry platform? Im satisfied with my E8500 plus 8800gt and 2gb mem, at least it could do any task which offers good performance but at reasonable price.

You said it yourself: YOU are satisfied; YOU != everyone =)

...not to mention the need for a beefy power supply and a new chassis since this is an extended ATX platform. - mitch

....and further, you need FB DIMMS which aren't cheap even if DDR2, and if you go with xenon procs you need a chassis capable of supporting the heat sinks via chassis mounted stand-offs. Only one I know of is the Antec Titan 650. No my friend, if you go the SkullTrail route you're looking at ~$4k opening bid. - mitch

Nice.

I had a feeling Intel would go dual socket.

8 cores of core two.

It's like having a low end rendering farm in a box.

If I did Maya or 3D Studio Max with Mental Ray this would sure come in handy.
If there would be a way to utilize all the stream processors in all 4 videocards to do raytracing or rendering (I heard about a dual chip Geforce 9). This beast would be awesome for smallscale film production.
Especially if you do 3D modeling

Or Video decoding would also benefit from this combo not only games.
