The 40 gig PS3, the only one that's available, does in fact play the original Playstation games, it just doesn't play PS2 games!

Ugh... have to pick up one quick then.
Though on the other hand, it doesn't sound like Sony is interested in continuing to improve the software emulation. Might just pick up a PS2 now and wait on the PS3.

Simply put:
I was investigating PS3 models with intention to buy. I discovered that backwards compatibility is being discontinued, and my PS2 games would no longer work. I am no longer buying a PS3.
That's the size of it.

Well, the only reason why I would pick up a PS3 at this point in time would be due to the fact that I have a PS2 and I would want to play those games on it, plus I would get the PS3 library as an addition. But since that won't be happening, I won't plan on it.
Sigh, I cannot believe Sony screwed up what was an incredible console. And to think their competition (Wii and 360) can have backwards compatibility while Sony struggles is really shocking. I mean c'mon, if Nintendo figured out a way to be compatible with the Gamecube games, and those were half the size of the regular Wii disc, how in the world can Sony not implement there own games!?!
Truly astonishing. Sorry Sony, I'll stick with my Wii.
