Keep in mind, the $55 figure is after going from Chinese Yuan to US Dollars. Prices also tend to change a bit from country to country. Europe, in general, has been getting shafted lately. China may be no different.

Even if the difference is 20 dollars, how is this news? If you can not afford an extra 10 to 20 dollars you do not need a new machine. You get a used hand me down.

10 or 20 may not seem like much too you, but it makes a huge difference to pc-makers who order in the thousands.

2. anyone know if this uses socket 754? got an old athlon 64 3200 i wanna upgrade but cant cause they changed to socket 939 then 940 to fast

Nothing new will come out for S754 or S939. This new Dual Core Sempron will not be released on S754.
