1. There must be something wrong with your setup. My x1950 pro get's framerates about the same as what that HD3870 was getting. Call of Duty 4 was particularly strange, many people with those cards are able to get minimum framerates higher than your averages.

As I pointed out to you before, those "ATI drivers from last year" are in fact slightly faster than the latest drivers in almost all single-card cases.

If true, then this is certainly interesting news. I would love to see a review/mini-review comparing performance of ATI cards under 7.12 and 8.2 drivers.

2. i think the recently released "8800GS 384MB" does just about have enough memory...i would be very interested to see it reviewed on xbitlabs.
it would be nice to see it compared to the 9600GT 512mb cards especially in overclocked situations. [Posted by: moosebite | Date: 02/29/08]
Yeah I would love to see the 8800gs and 9600gt go head to head.I think it would be nearlyequal since even though the 9600 has more/faster memory the 8800gs has 32 more stream processors.I went with the 9600gt myself after giving up waiting for Evga to release their 8800gs[I don't like the XFX model, which unfortunately,is the only one available].I suspect that Nvidia nixed the 8800gs so as not to hurt sales of the 9600gt.The new driver for the 9600gt needs serious tweaking too.Crysis runs well on high settings but the image quality is worse than my old 8600gts-WTF? yeah, i think the xfx has crappy memory on it (1.4 ns ?).the 8800GS 384mb is especially interesting when combines with speedy 0.8 ns memory so it will overclock like a beast and reach 8800GT 512mb speeds for a sweet price. i think evga and galaxy put speedy memory on the 8800GS cards [Posted by: moosebite | Date: 02/29/08]
Now if evga or galaxy would only RELEASE them those cards would be the perfect solution forpeople in the 150 to $175 price range. But I have a feeling the slower xfx models are the only ones we will see. What a pity. [Posted by: freak | Date: 03/01/08]
3. So.... Any chance to test oblivion with AA (setting HDR in the game and forcing AA in the CP)?. It DOES work, tested in vista x64 with a 8800 GTS.

With 4xAA and 16xAF? I don't think so.
