1. looks kinda fragile....

2. Nice gimmicky idea, but I'd just go for a motherboard that doesn't require active cooling for the chipset.

And where's that membrane cooling device with no moving parts I read about years ago?

3. I like to call it a heat engine. I doubt the fan is cooling the heat sink. It looks more for esthetic's and a neat gizmo for modders.

I think if they want to make sure it works well, they should include a fly wheel so the fan can turn with minimal effort and keep on turning even though the engine has stopped. The fan needs to be bigger, so that it becomes useful instead being useless. A two blade fan will be more efficient for this gizmo.

Heat pipes are the best passive cooling devices and it is Eco friendly.

4. Definitely a Gimmick. Stirling engine needs heat to power it. Here the heatsink is suppose to take away the heat? Nah! no way will this actually works.

The computer as a whole, if you want to be ECO FRIENDLY it is much better to reduce the heat production in the first place. such as running chips at very low frequencies and voltage on idle and possibly reduce RPM of harddrive when idling.

5. "It would be great if no economical obstacles hinder the commercial implementation of this cooling principle, because an engine like that may turn out more expensive to make than a traditional cooler with an electric fan.".........BUT long term saving via less wattage use may very well offset this.

6. wow these people are geniuses they applied sixth grade science to a computer! YAY YOU!

i agree, totally gay idea, also, how is that environmental friendly?! it didn't save power and it turned out to be completely useless.

I'd go with something turning heat into electricity and use this electricity into powering something useful on or reduce discharging rate of the laptop battery .. etc.

But taking heat produced from electricity to turn it into some blown away air, is nothing efficient IMO, actually it is more of .. stupid taking into consideration a crowded case with wires and small space.

I am also with the idea of:
Silent + Efficient >> Useless + Stupid

7. If MSI spent less time on gimmicks and more time on bios's maybe they would have a product worth buying
