1. Ah brilliant! 9" screen at under 1Kg - Very useful!
I guess this will replace the EEE PC 1001 that was cancelled then? [Posted by: Don | Date: 03/08/08]
2. They first launched Eee with Linux and it was kind of a surprise for everyone. Just check the top laptop sellers of Amazon (at http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pc/565108/ ) and check where the Eees, several, are!
Now Microsoft wants a piece of that cake too! I wonder how much they payed just to get their OS in there... [Posted by: JohnDoe | Date: 03/08/08]
They usually provide very tempting offers to OEM folks. They do it all the time to get their software products into systems.

3. There are a few common apps that require Windows--unless you're a total techie and can figure out WINE, etc. PDAnet and Slingbox are a couple.
It's great that there are choices now. Linux people can do their thing and Windows people can be satified, too. the keyboard issue still bugs me though. I tested the current model and even though people say that you get used to it--I just don't see how. It's small for me--but I don't use my "normal" laptop much because it's so small The question for me is, can I justify spending this kinda money if, between my laptop and my Treo, I can do everything this can do, albeit not in one cool little package. 4. it s pricey...only 100 euros less than a classical laptop
with a 80 go hardrive, integrated graphics of course, and a sempron like cpu...not mentioning a 15.4 screen.. [Posted by: abw | Date: 03/08/08]
You're completely missing the point. The 15.4" screen laptop is not going to weight less than 1kg. If you do a lot of travelling, being able to drop this into your bag without even thinking about the weight issue is huge.

okay for the portability, but i was questionning the costs..even it s made with extreme low end parts, it s still almost as costly as far better performing laptops... [Posted by: abw | Date: 03/10/08]
5. What exactly adds XP ?
less storage ? Less performance ? and of course, higher price ... this one sounds like commercial for MS and not tech news. [Posted by: n0nsense | Date: 03/09/08]
6. So if we can have this EEEPC 900 model with Windows or Linux, can it be installed with the Mac OS as the 701 could?
I have a craving for a triple boot laptop! ;) [Posted by: Don | Date: 03/09/08]
7. When will they start selling them and where? I am very anxious to get my hands on one? Will they still have the same name as ASUS EEE PC 4gb but with windows instead of linux? And what will the price be?
