1. Lol, nVidiots!!!!!
looks like a mildly OC'd 8800GTS 512mb. nvidia ftw...? i do not think so [Posted by: Skywalker | Date: 03/13/08]
So true! What a regression from a 384bit memory controller and 768MB of RAM!The only good thing about this release it lowering the prices of the 8800GT and 8800GTS 512MB...reasonable Crysis HIGH quality gaming for all... [Posted by: eltoro | Date: 03/16/08]
2. I just relized a completly new take on gpu architecure.
And it revolves around nivida and ati and (and everyother gpu maker) getting off their asses and working on new ideas for more performance and less wattage. 7900GTX's ftw. [Posted by: Joz | Date: 03/13/08]
3. yes.. but will it run Crysis on High?

4. Yes, But will it run Crysis on high?

5. You say in the article the 9800GTX will have one 6pin power connector, while the slide states it will have two. Just a little heads up.

6. SLI will boost performance 90% in nvidia made software which spins untextured cube with 24 polygons around Z axis.

7. Why oh why are they still using GDDR3 and not 4?

9. NVDA kicks ATI out of the building, again.
AMD should have left ATI alone. [Posted by: ATIisPWND | Date: 03/16/08]
Why is that? The 9800GTX is practically a 8800GT core but 'rebadged' into a 9800GTX. Who was it that did this?ATI of course so stop your bashing and look carefully next time... [Posted by: roxas | Date: 03/16/08]
10. What Geforce 9800 series?
Without major changes the entire line-up should properly be named (never to be released?) 8900 series! [Posted by: RoBoTeCHNK | Date: 03/17/08]
11. I'm thinking of getting a pair of these to replace my two 8800 Ultras. I have 4 GB of RAM installed in my system but my OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit) only detects 2814 MB. From my understanding, reducing the total amount of graphics RAM in my system should free up more of my installed RAM to be detected and used by the OS. I currently have 2x768 MB of graphics RAM between my two 8800 Ultras. A pair of 9800 GTX (which should be called 8900 GTX since there really is no GeForce 9800, as mentioned above) will reduce my total to 1024 MB of graphics RAM, thus freeing up more system RAM for use by Windows, because 32-bit Windows is weird that way.
Of course, my final decision will depend on seeing some benchmarks to let me know what percentage performance increase I will get in terms of frame rates. [Posted by: Targzissian | Date: 03/20/08]
Currently I have two 8800GT's in SLi. I primarily play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion so based on the scaling of the new 9800GTX's Oblivion will get a well needed shot in the arm. Draw distance on Oblivion is a real frame eater, and with so many mods to be added to the game you can quickly kill the performance of the latest and greatest vid card. I will definetly be getting the 1gb version of the 9800GTX. So in 3-way SLi, that would be a total of 3gb video ram!!! Although I would love to wait for the GT200 chip or whatever it is being coded as these days, I have 50 days left on my EVGA step up and don't want it to be waisted.

13. I cant wait to see the benchmarks of this new card. Hopefully it is better than an Ultra with its downgraded 512mb memory, but maybe Palit will come out with a 1GB version? I am sick of my crappy ATI Radeon 9600 series and am dying to see what new cards will come out so I can upgrade to two of these babies. If they are good.

15. Lols, a lot of dudes with money (probably from the parents) discusing about replacing 2 ultras or GT's with 2 of those new 'craps'. Man, now I can understand why companies like nvidia get rich. Because of SUCKERS like you, hahahaha
[Posted by: TAViX | Date: 03/26/08]
16. TAViX seriously though people just need the latest hardware to feel good about themselves. It's like a Heroin fix. What the hell are you people thinking? My single 8800GTX still rips and would be an absolute waste to downgrade to one of these new Nvidia cards. Lets see 384-Bit vs 256-Bit memory interfaces, 768Mb vs 512Mb VRAM. Aside from lower power consumption these cards are on average going to be 10-15% better performers TOPS. Secretly you'll be disappointed and feeling stupid but on every forum you'll be defending your decision like you defend your retarded little brother.
And this is just stupid. 7. Why oh why are they still using GDDR3 and not 4? Do you even know the difference between the two? Also have you ever heard of an idea called "saving money" Apparently not. [Posted by: Mr Roboto | Date: 03/26/08]
17. Will it support Shader Model 4.1 which is also known as DirectX 10.1? Does 9600 GT does so?
[Posted by: Basabjit Chowdhury | Date: 03/27/08]
18. what deos that it SHOULD replace the 8800gtx, and the ultra should give way to duel chip canadaites does this mean the 9800 gtx is weaker than 8800 uktra probaly reason for this is cuz the memory reduction
[Posted by: prou | Date: 03/29/08]
19. i have XP64 and 8 gig ram, but i need new videocards, so i think im gonna buy 3 9800GTX cards and run EVERYTHING on max. Is there gonna be a 1024 version on the 9800GTX? in that case ill take 3 of them
