I'm right there with you. I know that at least Seagate could build a 10K desktop drive that would meet or exceed the Raptors.The main reasons that they never took off are price and capacity. Raptors and other 10K/15K drives use 2.5" platters instead of 3.5" that 7.2K drives use. Assuming* a 1" spindle, a 2.5" platter has about half the usable surface area of a 3.5" platter. In addition, they are also significantly louder and hotter than slower drives. *I hope I didn't make an ASS of U and ME. [Posted by: cheeseman | Date: 03/19/08]
