1. Buying this board will set you back by 200€ in Europe, this translates into app. 315$. The Cellshock kit cost another 280€, or 440$. Hence, you will have to pay 755$ for the mainboard and the memory alone, left aside the fact the 2GB of system memory are far from being considered enough for a high-end system today. Sounds a bit too much for me.
If I were to assemble a computer system today, I would definitely go for P35... However, If one could afford the waiting, Nehalem is the way to go - DDR3 is simply an overkill even for speeds above FSB400 with antique chipsets like these today. And with such prices, it's simply ridiculous. [Posted by: nx | Date: 04/15/08]
2. Bar Graphs, please. I'd rather not read charts. Keep the reviews user friendly :).
Good investigation as always. Keep it up, X-bit labs. [Posted by: MonkRX | Date: 04/15/08]
3. I purchased a GA-EX38-DQ6 in March. Directly above the top PCIx16 slot there is upside down text with the board model number. Mine had a white sticker over the label with "GA-EX38-DQ6" on it. I peeled it off and the board was stamped with "GA-X48-DQ6."

7. Another total waste of money for a 'mine is bigger then yours' but only in the numbers............35/38 = 48
Anyone who wants to buy one go ahead, at least your overclock/epenis will increase...............but only in your own mind [Posted by: alpha0ne | Date: 04/21/08]
8. Notice OPTIONAL: TURBO MEMORY. That sounds Cool.EXCEPT WORD OPTIONAL, WHICH I BELIEVE MSOT OF BEST ADVANCEMENTS GET FORGOTTEN UNLESS YOU DEMAND THAGT SPECIFIC MODEL ONLY, IF IT DID WORK.
Also what about Price, X48 Costs Lots More & is much more rekiabky bootable than micro chipsets proved. N.b. Bios? Yeah, I heard of them. Signed:PHYSICIAN THOMAS STEWART VON DRASHEK M.D. [Posted by: thomasxstewart | Date: 04/23/08]
9. Hi all at X-bit.
I note in your review regarding the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 you state the following:- The chipset doesn’t boast any significant advantages over Intel X38. as for the 1600MHz bus support that has been formally introduced in the new Intel X48, it is a pure marketing trick, since even older mainboards on Intel X38 can work just fine with the only CPU supporting this bus – Core 2 Extreme QX9770. In fact in similar reviews on your website for other MoBo’s you make similar comments about manufactures over stating the FSB performance. I.E. a manufacturer states an FSB of say 1066 but in reality and from your tests you can only get approx 550 and this is when the board has been over-clocked. I have clearly missed out on something here, what kind of a marketing trick is this? What are the realities of FSB performance without over-clocking on say a board where the manufacturer states 1066FSB? How can they get away with this when reality is far from what they claim? Sorry if I sound a bit thick but I am a newbie trying to understand the pros and cons and the terminology that you guys use [Posted by: The Pixel Painter | Date: 04/29/08]
10. I'm curious to know why the GA-X48T-DQ6 wasn't compared to the GA-X38T-DQ6 for a direct comparison of the X48 and X38 chipsets.

11. so i still cant decide if an x48 is worth the extra bucks: that should be made clearer.
but good analysis..... [Posted by: ragingthunder | Date: 05/21/08]
