I think you've missed a major use of the usb mp3+. Notebook users, without any line-ins to their minimum sound cards are not able to burn CD's from tape or LP's without something like the mp3+. And, while the mp3+ is more expensive than it's competitors, it does give you more (i.e. software, etc.) and does more than it's competitors. Plus, taking advantage of the little known, but still available, $20 refund until March 4, 2004, makes the price a bargain compared to it's competitors.

The MP3+'s audio performance problems might be related to its current draw. I couldn't get the thing to work with one of my laptops (a Compaq M300) - it shut the USB system down completely. On another (a Compaq Evo 610), there was visible distortion in the background noise (viewed via spectrum analyzer), until I hooked up the MP3+ via a powered USB hub, instead of directly to the laptop. The background noise cleaned up considerably.

I/d like to buy yhis product, but can't connect to a supplier. When I'm connected to a warehouse with thousands of item in thousand catagories, I can't make a selection. Just the product-no choices.

This post has the most detailed information I've found to date on USB Sound Blaster MP3+ a.k.a. SB0270.

I am attempting to use unit as interface between my lap top computer and my stereo system for the purpose of transfering audio from vinyl records to MP3 files. I'm having great difficulty setting up the input and output links.

OUTPUT .. I have yet to figure out how to control the routing of the audio output. Sometimes it plays through the internal speakers in my lap top computer and at other times it is sent via the USB port to my stereo amplifier.

INPUT. I have yet to figure out how to route the signal being sent into the RCA jacks on the USB SB MP3+ into any of the audio recording programs. I know that my connections are good because it worked once (alas very poorly), but I’ve not been able to get it to work again. The Audacity Record program is set to use the SPDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital InterFace) as the input with a sampling rate of 48 KHz.

Any help would be appreciated. Sound Blaster manual is silent on subject.

P.S. Lap Top is Compaq Persario 700 running Windows XP home edition.

I've always had problems with this card.

I bought it as a means to transfer music and sounds from games out to my pioneer home theater system through the optical cable.

Since day one, the quality has been less that acceptable. Skips, blurps and burps in all of my sound. Not to mention, when I attempt to use the RCA jacks to connect it to my home theater system, I get nasty feedback or rather a loud humming noise that I can not for the life of me get rid of.

I would not recommend it.

Could there BE more typos and mistakes? Hell, you even call it a GRAPHICS CARD more than once in this review. Very poor, sorry I wasted my time.
