vista would be helping Apple sales, too many ppl have come to the conclusion that its a DOG and with vista pre installed on most machines Mac is a tempting alternative

Of course 66% of all purchases over $1k are macs. Most people don't buy $1000 PCs. They buy $500 PCs. On the other hand, only 1 Mac computer costs less than $1000. It's common sense folks.
