Strange. The HD4870 has "relatively high power consumption" as a low, yet you never tested it. Or did you, and forgot to include the results?

Review's a little pointless without the GTX 260 and 280 in there. Although I suppose if you're after pure price for price comparison it's OK... however you can't assume prices will remain the same ratios indefinitely.

For Par: the HD4870 draws around 25-30W more than the 9800GTX and around 50W less than the 9800GX2. Although it would be nice to see that tested here too...

thats with 4XAA !!
Tpwrup: 61 fps Xbit: 37 fps

just a sample of the many review's of the 4800's lately, which results are at least 10% higher..than Xbit's:

"HD 4800 architecture is strong enough to be competitive even in unfriendly environmentsl"
Yah you can say that again Xbit labs....

Would like to see a test of the power consumption, heat and noise too
It shouldn't be only in the conclusion

Rubbish Article

I am truly shocked that Xbit labs managed to come to a completely performance conclusion that every other hardware website.

Wonder if Xbitlabs are using the correct drivers + patch ?. Starting wonder if we are dealing with a fan boy reviewer ?

And before you lot start, I am not a fanboy, running a 8800GTX.

Yo, cut the chatter kids. You are going to get different results for every different testbed. The idea is to try to gage the performance across a wide range of testbeds to get a feel for general performance

those cards doesnt get that hot, and the wattage use is low compared to Nvidia cards.
Just turn the fan to 50/60% you will see how Cooler the card runs..
a bit weird review..

alot of the settings here are set higher when what other tests beds have done

alot of posts here seem like what happened when Hardocp made an review that showed that the 3870X2 was lower performace then an Nvidia video card and did not seem to match any other benchmarks

(side note was the ATI Fix installed as there was an bug or somthing in the 8.6 driver, if not that would explane the performace drop)

For most people i know this review is a complete waste of time, to make it something i suggest you include results from the GTX 260 and 280.

Jesus H, I can't believe some of the comments I'm seeing here. Cold-blooded much?!

It would've been nice to see the GTX 260/80 in there, but it's far from a "crap review".

I demand a recount, not really, but seriously you are this late with the article and no GTX 260 or 280 and some beta catalyst driver from ATI. You tell us nothing about the driver used for the 4000 series. I am sorry but this article is worthless.

Yeah, there's been a definitive slip in the quality of the articles from xbit the past 6 months .. with video cards anyway. I still enjoy your LCD roundups and in depth CPU reviews

GTX 200 series is missing here. Then again, this should force nVidia to be more reasonable w/ its pricing.
