I'm very surprised you didn't also review Adaptec's 5400 line in this line-up. The prices are comparible to the 3400 line, but the technolgy is newer (and presumably faster).

MerrHell, it's hard to make those kind of statements when there was a limited number of drives and probably no tweaks done to the RAID arrays. Also, the only card that's a modern real hardware RAID solution is the 3405 (called the 4305 many times in the article), and even that is already outdated :/ Beyond that Adaptec and Areca actually use the same hardware most of the time.
