I wonder if they did anything to reduce the heat output (lower voltages)?
Power consumption numbers would show that.

The fps numbers are strange. Just a question ? Why are u testing the so called " relatively slow graphics solutions like GeForce 9800 GT " with Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: On/Quality (ATI) and Antialiasing - Transparency: Multisampling (Nvidia) turned on. It can kill performance even on high end if plenty aplha textures pop up.
