DirectComputes needs DX10 hardware or later, basicly DX9 hardware only gives you aero and windows 7 automaticly installs latest driver

Saying that ATI Does not officially support DX9 cards DOES NOT mean that DX9 cards will not work in Windows 7. ATI needs to be more clear here.

I have a Radeon x1900 and I have been using Windows 7 release cantidate for several months and I have tested Fallout3, HL2, WoW, Aion, Crysis and a multitude of other PC games with absolutely no issues at all using the legacy drivers currently available for the x1900. Furthermore, screen output to my HDTV works perfectly for watching movies or gaming on my HDTV. In essence, there seemed to be NO difference in compatability between my XP installation and my Windows 7 installation except for the lack of DX10 support in XP (which the x1900 doesn't have anyway.)

The legacy cards will WORK FINE in Windows 7, there just will be no further updates it seems. This is not suprising, but since the cards work fine anyhow for the time being what difference does it make.

This review could be considered alarmist to most ppl, it should be made more clear that DX9/10 will still work fine on W7
