This is where AMD is going to be shooting themselves in the foot. They need to take advantage of nVIDIA's manufacturing failures and get more Radeon HD 5800 series cards to the market. I already have one but I'll admit it wasn't easy to get.

Agreed. But ATi is famous on shooting themselves in old Radeon 8500 times they had great chip but basically few of them make to market due some TSMC also problems at expected speed.

AMD now should flood market with 5xxx series ,card is better than any Nvidia ,lower power consumption ,less temperature ,better perfomance than any Nvidia single gpu ,this is thing that Nvidia fan also agree.

First kittys are drown in cold water If AMD is SMART they already have in production an RV870 successor as whole new generation with todas dx11 and advanced to dx11+. And they should made that jumpjust like nV did with skipping to NV40 only a year after they introduce their first trully dx9.0 chip(and it was dx9.0c at the beginning, NV30) making huge gap between them and ATI.
And now all they need to do is to produce abundance of GPUs in GFs 32nm bulk as a Cypress refresh and shrink in once but starting new HD6000 series. So trully 2560SPs with 128TMU 32RBEs and with FMA revised dx11 they have now. So in June we might look at some Fermi killer if it aint be 3x better than any of todays hd5800 series ?:

are you talking about 2010 or 2011? I'll be curious to see how the new Fermi does, 58xx series is pretty good but it's not a real huge shakeup exept for the high end market that I can't buy right now :-(

AMD is trying to put its products out. The problem is TSMC and their issues with the 40nm process. They are having constant issues getting above the 40% mark for usable chips. If AMD had the chips, they could put out more of the 5000 series and really catch up in market share. However the lack of supply for 40nm chips has really hurt AMD putting their products on the market.

Well since AMD can't get enough chips out of the 40nm lines as they like, how can nVidia think they will?
Especially since in Q1 AMD and nVidia will try and get everything out they can. Further AMD not only has the 58xx series (Cypress) pressing nVidia they also have the 57xx series (Juniper) where nVidia has no real response for either.
The next year will be tough for nVidia. Nothing new though. Has happened to them before, has happened to ATI, too.

It's interesting to see if AMD will wait for nVidia new line of cards before releasing the next 5870X2 GPU...Somehow, I have a feeling that the dual GPU card will be much stronger than 2x5870 in SLI. Only time will tell...

I'm certainly interested in finding out how well the Fermi does because I found that the 58xx series was actually very good. However I don't see there being much of a shake-up rather than in the more expensive end of the market.
