What the hell is "dual-core DDR3?"

Nice, a quick edit.

I imagine that was meant to be dual-channel, as mentioned later in the article.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not sure whether to be one of the first to get one of these or wait for the ones coming out later in the year.

I was thinking more along the lines of newer revisions rather than anything else.

Stupid Question...
does the + sign actually mean its a black edition and the other plus sign means its turbocore?

Black Edition means unlocked right?

well it seems like they have both black edition plus turbo core. And yeah BE means unlocked.

First time I read about there being two close release "waves" of Buddozer CPUs. I would not be surprised to see higner stock clocks for the same TDP, as well as non-BE models, in the second wave.

Keep up the good leaks, Anton!

AMD really needs to realise that the high end CPU/APU market is not a "media bling" market. I am interested in code executions per clock I don't particulalry care if it looks good on my monitor I don't need that.

I also don't care if it's green or not. I have no cares at all how much power it consumes as long as it executes 64 bits of code per clock faster than anything made by Intell.

If it does that then it is a winner. if it doesn't Bulldozer is a looser and I sell my stock in AMD.

If I am building a hot rod then I want raw power that only 8 cylinders of supercharged pure Detroit iron can give. I don't want some puny little engine with lots of chrome and flash that can't pull it's weight.

If AMD wants to be something more than VIA then it better release silicon that makes Intell and world take notice.

AMD also needs to stop rationalizing being second. Start bragging about being first. Hey put the smack-down on the 800 pound gorilla and make the world take notice!

Funny how there's not a single american car in the top 10 fastest cars (Top 10) or how all those puny japanese/european engines drive circles around Detroits finest (except in american movies).

Other than that, early previews all seem to suggest AMD is trying to do just that, first release some low-end, low-power APU's which humble their Intel counterparts and get into a market where Intel is dominating (and which is a huge and still rising market), then into mainstream, and then charge the 800 pounder.
By the end of the year we will hopefully know if he goes down.

being the fastest is a great bonus, but not nearly as important as being the best in the mainstream segment, where 95% of consumers shop.

I don't like Akamateau's analogy but your post contains false information. If you bothered to look at your own link you would notice the Saleen S7. Built by a American company, it uses a Ford-cast all aluminum block.

It's less of a blunder to miss that the Saleen S7 is an American car than it is to completely miss the point that Saleen S7 meets absolutely ZERO of akamateau's criteria. The Saleen S7 is built in California, NOT Detroit. The engine is aluminum, NOT iron. The S7 is twin-TURBOcharged, not supercharged.

It's like asking for an AMD performance computer and using Intel chips. It's not what you asked for.

If you bothered to read Zion's post you would notice he said "not a single american car in the top 10 fastest cars" The basis of his rant is that no American cars made it to his top 10 fastest cars list. California is not part of America? Holy shit.

Also you point out that the engine is aluminum and NOT iron. My original post clearly mentions it is indeed aluminum so I don't know what you're trying to point out. I replied to Zion's post and you're telling me that's not what Akamateau said?

Do people not read on Xbit Labs? Seriously.

Actually, the list contains three American cars:

#2 SSC Ultimate Aero - Built by Shelby SuperCars

#3 Saleen S7 Twin-Tubo - Built by Saleen

#7 Jaguar XJ220 - Built by Jaguar - a division of Ford Motor Company at the time.

The Germans or Italians could have three, depending on whether you consider the car to be German because of the Mercedes-Benz engine or Italian because of everything else. In either case, the UK and Sweden have one one each. This means no Asian (Japan included) have any, so it is doubtful - using the proof you offered - that they can drive circles around "Detroit's finest." And that only one European car - at 3 times the cost of the American car - can.

Saleen s7 uses a Ford 427...detroit
SSC Aero uses a Chev 387...detroit

Seems like your own facts are off...

Well that power saving feature may help you with that horse power issue. If the processor is running cool most of the time you aren't doing anything it can use Turbo core 2 to boost up the speed until it reaches gets hot then slowly ramp down to a safe stable operating frequency for whatever you are doing. Just remember more power = more heat and in the case of a chip like this more heat at idle = less time running at max turbo core speed. Think of it as a cars Nitro boost if you want or some other huge speed boost that can't be sustained for long periods of time due to heat, but remember the cooler the system is running before the boost the longer you can sustain that boost.

get it through your head fanboy! AMD will always be second rate! they only got lucky with the K8!

These chips are still officially vaporwares! Until they can be purchased, these chips will just once again be another phenom fiasco!

AMD only got lucky with K8 like they did with K7. Maybe you seem to forget, but the Athlon (K7) was the first to hit 1GHz, not Pentium III. The K8 was still the king in 2006, until the Core2 came out. From 1999-2006 is 7 years of fluke? Looks like some dudde needs to get his head out of his arse. Oh and let's not forget that the P4's ORIGINAL successor, the Intel Tejas, got canned.

Since you spell "Intel" as "Intell," I won't waste my time explaining intricacies of server architecture and use that render gross measurements such as execution of "64 bits of code per clock faster" misleading. Instead, I will focus on something you may just be able to grasp.

You don't care how much power a chip consumes? Maybe because you don't pay the power bill while living in your mother's basement. The Cray XT5 "Jaguar" runs 224,162 Opteron cores. Want to bet power consumption matters to the people paying that bill? TCO rules the high-end market.

Where I work, we run only 4096 cores in the data center and ~6,600 more among the PCs in the offices. I can tell you the bill for energy consumption by all those CPUs and the air conditioning to get rid the of excess heat from that consumed energy is a major concern. So much so that purchasing decisions are based on it.

We are preparing to purchase 1,200 PCs in the next three weeks. Based on our TCO studies, we are willing to pay a premium up front to get lower lifetime costs because that initial expense will be amortized by our energy savings.

So you drive your Detroit iron. We will drive our Yokohama aluminum and pass you by when you stop to fill up - if the bankruptcy court lets you keep your car.

i would prefer a small v4 v6 twin turbo over v8. at the end same performance but consumation power ill win.
