While the review is quite thorough, I still wonder why one test is not considered - POST time. I was once misleaded by this type of review and bought a Adaptec SAS controller, and found out to be very annoying and disappointing because of the additional 1 minute POST time. This is extremely troublesome everytime I need to go into mainboardbios for tweaking. Server will not bother about POST time because it is not supposed to be restarted very often, but general PC users will feel the pain. I gave up the card after 2 years instead of the good performance, just because of the POST time.

In addition to hideous boot times, Adaptec 5805 runs bloody hot, but at least there's 2 holes at the edges of heatsink so that strapping small fan is less of a hassle.
