No words in your conclusion about the Dustbuster.

How many money did nVidia pay you to do such an in-depth analysis?

You are correct in assuming that the drivers you used for the FX are optimized for 3DMark. They switch to using 16bit float precision instead of 32bit. Radeon 9700 Pro uses 24-bit precision.
This makes all 3DMark tests invalid. I would suggest you just remove the entire battery of 3DMark tests from the article.

Why do you use optimized drivers instead WHQL?

I can't wait till the NV35 is launched. My feelings are NVIDIA will be wearing the 3D Crown again very soon.

Seatiger: Lern to read! " But the noise produced by the monstrous cooling system makes all these advantages fade away, as well as the price of this product"

An overall nice article, thanks.

But I'd like to know why you chose the settings you did for ATi's AF? I can't understand why you didn't include ATi's Performance mode with High Quality textures and MIP-maps to compare to nV's Balanced setting, which is clearly more bilinear than trilinear. Perhaps you were under time pressure? Otherwise, I don't see why you'd use settings that someone who buys a $300+ video card would never use. Surely you realize it's more important to compare speed at equivalent image quality, not at supposedly equivalent settings? It's a surprising error in an otherwise very detailed review.

#3, nV doesn't have WHQL drivers out yet. And with the very questionable IQ shortcuts they're taking in 3DM03 and elsewhere, I doubt they'd pass. Heck, I just saw a German site show the 43.75's were pulling a "Quack" in Quake 3, with obviously lower-quality textures resulting in higher benchmark scores.

For a company committed to "Cinematic Rendering," nV is doing some very questionable things with their drivers lately. I await WHQL drivers (ones that don't substitute FP16 or even INT for FP32 shading) so we can honestly see how the FX stacks up to the R300/350 in next-gen (3DM03, Doom 3) apps.
