One correction, 1394b is not the fastest peripheral interface ever invented. Ultra2 SCSI predates it by many years and offers an identical throughput of 80 MB/s (800 Mb/s). Ultra160 and Ultra320 offer even more, and both also predate 1394b.

Very good article.

If could, may you explain what kind of optical system that HP ScanJet 4670 uses? HP claims it using a CCD sensor, but the whole scanner is only 5/8 inch thick. Why?
