"I hope that after these detailed explanations it will be much easier for you to make your choice."

How can anyone make an educated decision when you deliberately gloss over noise and heat issues which seems to be a real sticking point lately????

And if you do not care to speculate why IBM sold two thirds interest to Hitachi and used their name, all one has to do is take a marketing 101 class on how to recover from a debacle like the DeathStar series to explain this change.

The least you could have done is to ask IBM/Hitachi what they have done to solve the problems of old and what they plan to do with their SATA idle noise issues.

I realize that one must do what is poilitically correct but it does no one service to present an obviously bias review. It makes xbitlabs reviews far less credible overall and that is a sad thing.

Hallo.
First of all, that was a technology review, not economical. We found many interesting facts regarding ШИЬ/Рш ефсрш and decided to publish them. Thats all we did.

And I wonder what you mean saying that SATA Hitachi are more noisy than something else. As far as I know, it is not the truth.

You missed something on the Deskstar 180GXP, the disable auto-spin jumper. If you have a proper IDE Hardware RAID card such as a 3ware, it will be able to send the spin-up command to each disk one after another. Therefore not blowing out your power supply.
