Anyone who knows anything about SSDs, knows it's all about the controller. So why would anyone leave out a reputable SSD, "(Intel’s transition to a new SSD generation was accompanied with but minor changes in the controller, so we don’t count this in)", that has had changes, however minor, to it's controller?
The controller has to be one of the most important components of a SSDs make up and will greatly affect one, the performance of your SSD and two (and probably more importantly), your experience of SSDs. Any changes to the controller, then that's what I want to know about!
