I bought the HD6950 version of this card, it actually came with 1536 shaders already unlocked in the second BIOS. I clocked it to 880/1375 manually and now I have a working HD6970. The cooler is great, the GPU runs cool and the fans are quiet.

Through GPU-Z you are right to probe highest temperatures but you have to check lowest values for the tensions not the highest ones.

Having the 580 Lightning as a reference point is a bit confusing.

The non-oc'd AMD cards are already running reference clocks so having a stock 580 will give a better point of comparison.

That, or oc every card here instead as that will be more representative of the operating scenario these sort of cards will find themselves in.
