keep in mind that FX5950 o/c better than Radeon 9800XT and that the gap in the test won by ATI's R360 is maginal, I would conclude that o/c NV38 can catch up o/c Radeon 9800X in those test. Further more in the tests where nVidia chip is faster we would see even bigger gap. If there is not any IQ differences i think that GeForce FX 9500 Ultra is the better buy, IMO.

P.S. "If there is not any IQ differences i think that GeForce FX 9500 Ultra is the better buy" for UT2004

"consider buying a high-end graphics card."
Or consider NOT to!
With the PCIe upon us I think anyone buying a $400+ graphics card is plain crazy!
Stick with whatever you have now for a while.
Personally I will be keeping my GF4 Ti4200 until Halflife2, DOOM3 or anoy other really decent game comes out. Thank you very much.

"Pay attention how the GeForce FX 5900 falls behind the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra by about 25% in 1280x1024 resolution, a figure we did not see in previous test scenes. We cannot attribute this gap to extra 128MB of memory the 5950 Ultra has over 5900, as we do not see any serious improvements the RADEON 9800 XT has over the 128MB RADEON 9800 PRO."

Well where is the memory that each card have?
128MB vs 256MB ones is not correct, specially for the nVidia ones!

Ati cards have BETTER memory management solutions so where Ati cards 128MB is enought, for Nvidia ones is not.

S3 results are pretty cool, considering the low power that the card has. I know S3 cards does AF so why dont test it?

Why no mention of the 5900se/xt? When it comes to bang for the buck, it's hard to beat this card. You can get it for $189 at Newegg.com

Here's some Macintosh results running UT2004 "Bridge Of Fate" botmatch:
http://www.barefeats.com/ut2004.html

The Mac hands off the audio processing to the second CPU on Dual G4 and G5 models, which is a big help in speed.

It's not clear to me if the test parameters and fight sequences were comparable to the ones used by xbitlabs, but the Athlon 64 used in this article produced much faster frame rates than the G5s I tested.

what were the exact cards in test ?
why is the 9500pro scores better than 9600pro and XT ones?

The 9800pro was a 128MB or a 256MB Card?

Why don't these reviews EVER list the actual video cards that were tested?!?!?!
For example, they mention they use the Geforce 5900...which ONE!??!?!?! The 128mb or the 256mb or the SE or the XT?!?!

I realize that much of the fault is with the idiot card manufacturers that have to have the same damn name for different cards...but come on, at least tell us which ones are which when you do reviews.
