1. Catalyst 4.2 is out now, maybe it fixed those problems mentioned in the review?
[Posted by: ghanz | Date: 02/17/04]
2. why cant they say HL2? maybe they cant call Next gen highly anticipated game in its real name by why not in the shortcut (that is not trademarked)

3. You do of course realise youve broken the 3DMARK03 EULA and misrpresented the rendering results of this card by using UNOFFICIAL NVIDIA DRIVERS
Dont you???? I suppose when you check youll be another site dropping 3DMARK03 due to the fact it seems its the only benchmark - synthetic or otherwise that nvidia CANT OPTIMISE FOR. [Posted by: kkevin666 | Date: 02/17/04]
as long as there is no noticeable IQ drop, were THERE ISN'T NONEdo we care if they cheat? nope [Posted by: bleh | Date: 02/17/04]
We tend to use the latest official drivers to show what our graphics cards are capable of. Given that 3DMark03 is just another benchmark we use in our reviews, not more, not less, we believe that our approach is correct, as it is correct for the majority of other applications we utilise when writing our articles. However, from now on we are going to use drivers approved by Futuremark for benchmarking purposes. [Posted by: Anton | Date: 02/18/04]
4. Who cares? Well, I wish FutureMark would care a bit more since they're supposed to be protecting the integrity of their benchmark.
I care because nVidia is mis-representing the performance of their product, making it look like something it isn't. The cheats they use to improve 3dm2k3 don't carry over to help anything in gaming, they ONLY help 3dm2k3 to falsely show the FX cards as better than they are. [Posted by: digitalwanderer | Date: 02/17/04]
Hm... strange… and I’ve noticed a few games of different type to show me the strength of the FX family cards. People… if You care only about 3DMark03, maybe we should ask X-bit to make there reviews based only on this particular kind of benchmark? I think that will suck.

5. Test Fifa2004, NBA 2004, Need for Speed, etc...
many games. Too see who is better performing/compatibility. [Posted by: I | Date: 02/18/04]
We are continuously examining new applications for benchmarking.

6. how did u reach the core clock to 600 i cant do it my computer just frezzes if i put it dat much

7. Sounds like an interesting card. Anyone find a place that sells it in the US?

8. Thought people might be interested in this. I have a rather old system (ASUS A7A266, Athlon 1.33Ghz, 256MB PC2100 DDR, Geforce 2 MX) which I am in the process of upgrading.
The motherboard has a 4x AGP and a 266Mhz FSB. I have the FSB oc’d so the processor runs at 1.405 (I couldn’t get the pencil trick to work to unlock the multiplier on the AMD chip that is at 10x). I just purchased the Gecube Radeon 9600 XT Extreme and I thought you might be interested in how a reasonably formidable card such as this copes with the drag factor of such a slow system. I know someone asked a similar question. Anyway, I ran a few benchmarks with UT2003 using the default benchmark facility that runs a flyby and a botmatch on two maps. Here are the results before (good for a laugh) running with the Detonator 53.03 drivers: FlyBy BotMatch Details 1024x768 13.48 10.02 No AA, No AF 1280x1024 7.85 6.08 No AA, No AF And here it is with the new card installed running at stock speeds with the Catalyst 4.2 drivers: FlyBy BotMatch Details 800x600 120.64 38.70 No AA, No AF 1024x768 117.25 38.66 No AA, No AF 1280x1024 106.02 36.71 No AA, No AF 1280x1024 57.33 32.26 4x AA, 8x AF As you can see the card performs the graphical calculations extremely well, but is limited in the botmatch by the processing power of the CPU. I should also say that I can run the Far Cry demo smoothly with all options set to very high except textures (set to High because of memory). [Posted by: paulf | Date: 03/15/04]
I have a AMD 2500+ (o/ced to 3200+) and 512mb Corsair 3200LL (11-2-3-2)With a Gecube 9600XT-XTG not the Extreme version but the one with 2.8ns memory and i cant get it to run very smoothly in Far Cry.. I dont know how you managed to get it running smoothly on your machine. [Posted by: Manol | Date: 05/16/04]
When people say "smoothly" without presenting numbers, chances are it's all in the eye of the beholder. Allow me to explain. For someone who just came from a GeForce 2 MX to a Radeon 9600 XT, the performance jump is such that you'll be calling "smooth" to pretty much anything that runs around 20-30 fps.But don't get me wrong, the 9600XT from GeCube sounds like a great card and I wouldn't hesitate to get one myself, seeing how it offers a great performance for the price. 9. I just ordered one of these......I'm wondering why your testbed has NVIDIA ForceWare listed as one of the drivers for the ATI card??
I know this isn't exactly a comment, but I'm scratching the skin off my head. Thanks. [Posted by: mark2183 | Date: 03/27/04]
10. I would like to ask what kind of overclocking utility did you use when tested the Gecube Radeon 9600XTGU graphics card.
[Posted by: A.Zoltan | Date: 04/17/04]
11. hi im curious.. deciding if i should get the 9600XT in the tests, it shoes that the graphics card runs most programmes better in 3.9 then in 4.1 right? now ati has come up with 4.5 drivers. wil the 9600XT be running better then in 3.9 and 4.1? and also.. i have heard that the 9600XT might encounter freeze? is it true? if you were to compare the FX5900XT with the 9600XT which would be a better buy? please help me with this... thanks alot

13. ...i just instal the last driver from ati v 4.5...and i try to overclock the radeon 9600 xt extrme from GeCube ..so ...."like the story tell" i have set the core clock at 640 mhz and the memory clock 400 mhz (800 ddr) and the result = "FREZE" ,,,i have tryed to set the core lower and lower and same think..the VPU recover has reset the driver or the system FREZE..,,and i tryed with Catalist v 4.1 and same think
So, in conclusion somebody can tell me if i can OVERCLOCK tihs video card...????????????????????????????????????????? My System Is: Motherboard Gigabyte GA-7va AMD Athlon 2000+ XP (Thoroughbred) 2x 256 ddram 333 PQI Ati Radeon GeCube 9600 XT Extreme 120 GB Seagate 7200 rpm 8 mega buffer Windows xp + sp2 [Posted by: whiskas_thedogg | Date: 05/26/04]
14. I have managed to overclock my 9600 xt extreme to 570/380 using 'ATI tool' and can not go any further without problems. Would be interested to know how the reviewer got up to 640/400... different heatsink/fan?

15. I recently got myself a Powercolor 9600XT Bravo Edition... Not my first choice but I got it all the same. Anyway, I tried using it on my Gigabyte GA-7VA, Every single game I own now crashes within 10 mins. I hope this will act as a warning to all those using the GA-7VA. If anyone has any advice it would really help.
My system: AMD Athlon 3000XP, Gigabyte GA-7VA, 768DDR 333Mhz, Audigy 1 and a Western Digital 120G 7200rpm 8Mb Cache. P.S. I've already tried the basic stuff drivers, bios and underclocking to no avail. [Posted by: Phillae | Date: 06/10/04]
For those who are wondering why the **** someone's talking about a Powercolor card in a GeCube review section, look two comments up (comment 13).

The cards reviewers get are usually not the same that go out to the public.
