The crappy IGP on Cedar Trail is the reason why ZOTAC incorporated a NVIDIA Geforce GT520 GPU into their Mini-ITX mobo...

...ZOTAC D2700-ITX WiFi Supreme
=> Atom D2700 (Cedar Trail at 2.13 GHz) + Geforce GT520

2800 was supposed to consume 6.5W, 2500 10W, how is that your result shows that they consume the exact same?

WOW, power consumption is significantly improved compared to 45nm Atoms

With that Conclusion, nobody can say that X-Bit Labs has a pro-Intel bias.

Whats the point of having a reduced power draw when the CPU/GPU is bordering on being useless for everyday usage, also most of the power reductions are due to die shrink

I wish atom would be allowed to die but because its intel we will see them forced onto unsuspecting/uninformed consumers

Being a well written article about this odd creation from Intel i feel obliged to comment on this:

Note that we deliberately didn’t include Nvidia ION2. Being a very expensive solution with pretty high power needs it failed to become popular, so the mainboards based on it have almost vanished from the market by now.

I respectful disagree about the fact that the ION2 is power hungry and expensive. Granted it costs a few more bucks than E-350 motherboards but vdpau is much better supported than vaapi and both technologies use about the same amount of power. The D525/ION combo is still a viable option in 2012, and at least in my country they are in stock at every retailer. ARM is not an option for a home built media center and probably never will be. I have two D525/ION machines and i am quite happy with them.
